#1 Italian roadtrip, Our Como stop

This was the first stop of our road trip to Puglia.

Now let's finally start sharing our road trip to Puglia. Because we have seen so much I decided to tell it per stop / hotel / place and so not to rush through it. There are so many places I have tips for that I will just tell you every blog.

I love road trips and have often gone to Italy. My default first stop is Lake Como. Fortunately, my (barely a year) boyfriend thought the same. It's not for nothing that they say that your first holiday together is a good test. Fortunately, there were only good matching points during our travel adventure, such as that he prefers to drive (I am a professional co-driver) and that he lets me find the accommodations. He did it a few times, but those were the most expensive accommodations so he left it to me to score the best deals (I love it).

Back to the first stop, Lake Como. I have loved coming here since my childhood. I hardly noticed the tourism during this time and didn't hear anyone about it during the circle talks in class after the holiday period. Everyone was always talking about Lake Garda... never gone so no idea. Until my ex took me as a road trip stop to the campsite where his parents stayed every year at Lake Garda. I was 18 years old when a completely new world opened up for me. It was a beautiful campsite with only Dutch people... Apparently everyone also had the same camping place every year and they looked forward to seeing each other again as holiday neighbors. I didn't know this at all but found it fascinating.

What I really find a turn off is when the environment adapts to the tourists. Don't get me wrong, I understand why the local entrepreneurs do it, but that is a big nog for me. A big part of my enjoyment on vacation is to discover the culture and beauty of the country or region. Not to do, see or eat the same as what I can do at home. There are of course different kind of travel people. Lake Garda is therefore not my place. As soon as I sat down in a restaurant and I got the menu in German, Dutch and Russian I wanted to leave.

Okay know back to Lake Como because I'm not here to bash another lake while it's beautiful too. Como is more my thing. Unfortunately (as it usually goes) it has also started to adapt to the tourists. I therefore no longer necessarily have to stay in the village itself or precisely on the lake. Give me a nice Hidden gem higher up the mountain with a view over the beautiful lake and I'm happy.

This time I found this Beautiful B&B for €90,- per night incl breakfast:

The next day we went to a hotel closer to Lake Como to have a coffee. TIP: you don't always have to sleep in the expensive hotels to use their restaurant facilities with the best views! Sit on their terrace and order a coffee and you often get delicious things with it. Coincidentally, guests were sitting next to us with a bottle of prosecco (at 10:00 am) also enjoying the view and also offered us a bottle. It was a good start to the holiday ;)

At this hotel we had our coffee with a view:

After that we left off to continue our roadtrip. On to the next stop!

To be continued...
